SUMIF adds values where one condition is true. For two or more conditions use SUMIFS.

Syntax

=SUMIF(range, criteria, [sum_range])
Argument What it means
range Cells to test.
criteria The condition: “North”, “>1000”, “*cable*”.
sum_range Cells to add (defaults to range).

Examples

Example 1

=SUMIF(B:B, "North", E:E)

Total sales for North.

Example 2

=SUMIF(E:E, ">"&H1)

Sum of amounts above a threshold typed in H1.
