Month-end in Oracle EPM Cloud often means the same clicks every time: upload the trial balance, run the data load, run calculations, export a backup. EPM Automate is Oracle’s command-line tool for exactly this.
In this article
Install and log in
Download EPM Automate from your EPM Cloud environment (the user menu has a Downloads page), install it, then open a command prompt in its bin folder.
epmautomate login [email protected] C:\secure\password.epw https://yourpod-yourdomain.epm.ocs.oraclecloud.com
Use an encrypted password file (created once with epmautomate encrypt) rather than typing the password into scripts.
The month-end sequence
epmautomate uploadFile "C:\GL\TB_Sep2026.csv"
epmautomate runDataRule "Load_TB" Sep-26 Sep-26 REPLACE STORE_DATA TB_Sep2026.csv
epmautomate runBusinessRule "Aggregate_All"
epmautomate exportData "Backup_Export" Backup_Sep2026.zip
epmautomate downloadFile Backup_Sep2026.zip
epmautomate logout
Each command returns an exit code: 0 means success. Check it after every step so a failed load doesn’t get calculated and exported as if it were fine.
A safe Windows script
@echo off
call epmautomate login %EPM_USER% %EPM_PWDFILE% %EPM_URL% || goto fail
call epmautomate uploadFile "%1" || goto fail
call epmautomate runDataRule "Load_TB" %2 %2 REPLACE STORE_DATA %~nx1 || goto fail
call epmautomate runBusinessRule "Aggregate_All" || goto fail
call epmautomate logout
echo DONE & exit /b 0
:fail
echo FAILED - check the job console in EPM Cloud
call epmautomate logout
exit /b 1
Good habits
- Run against a test environment first.
- Keep the job console open the first few times to see what each command did.
- Use a dedicated service account, not a person’s login.
- Command names and parameters differ slightly between EPM products and versions — check the EPM Automate guide for your release.
