FY from a date

With a date in A2:

FY start year:  =IF(MONTH(A2)>=4,YEAR(A2),YEAR(A2)-1)
FY label:       ="FY "&B2&"-"&RIGHT(B2+1,2)        → FY 2026-27
FY start date:  =DATE(B2,4,1)
FY end date:    =DATE(B2+1,3,31)

Fiscal quarter and month

Fiscal month (Apr = 1 ... Mar = 12):  =MOD(MONTH(A2)-4,12)+1
Fiscal quarter (Q1 = Apr–Jun):        ="Q"&INT(MOD(MONTH(A2)-4,12)/3)+1

Check: 15-Jan-2027 gives fiscal month 10 and Q4 of FY 2026-27.

One formula with LET

=LET(d,A2, y,IF(MONTH(d)>=4,YEAR(d),YEAR(d)-1),
     "FY "&y&"-"&RIGHT(y+1,2)&" Q"&INT(MOD(MONTH(d)-4,12)/3)+1)
→ FY 2026-27 Q4

Month order in pivot tables

Pivot tables sort month names January first. Add a “fiscal month” number column and sort by it, or build a small date table with columns Date, FY, Quarter, Fiscal month, Month name and link it in the Data Model.

Days left in the year

=DATE(IF(MONTH(TODAY())>=4,YEAR(TODAY())+1,YEAR(TODAY())),3,31)-TODAY()

Useful on tax-saving and budget dashboards.
