Many companies have moved from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The business processes are the same; the data model and screens have modernised.

What changed

  • Universal Journal (table ACDOCA): finance and controlling in one line-item table, so fewer reconciliations and real-time reporting.
  • Business Partner (BP) replaces separate customer and vendor maintenance.
  • Fiori apps in a browser alongside the classic SAP GUI.
  • Embedded analytics: reports straight on live data.

Fiori launchpad

A home page of tiles, each an app: Manage Purchase Orders, Display Line Items, overview pages with charts. Search finds apps by name; personalise by adding tiles and groups. The Fiori apps library (online) lists every app with its role.

GUI and Fiori together

Most users use both: Fiori for approvals, overviews and new-style apps; GUI transactions for heavy data entry and classic reports. Many classic T-codes also open inside Fiori.

💡 Fiori list apps have ‘Export to Spreadsheet’ and saved views, much like ALV layouts. Save your filter set as a view (variant) so it’s ready every time.

That’s the SAP Basics course. Next: SAP GUI scripting to automate what you’ve learned.

Transaction codes and menus are standard SAP ECC/S4HANA examples; your company may have custom codes, restricted authorisations or a different layout. Practise in a training or quality system.

Practice

Explore the Fiori launchpad using the checklist.
