Your first flow: get a phone or Teams notification when an email from your manager (or a key customer) arrives, even if your inbox is busy.

Build it

  1. Create › Automated cloud flow, name it, choose the trigger When a new email arrives (V3) (Office 365 Outlook).
  2. Open advanced options: set From to the sender, or Subject Filter to a keyword like “URGENT”.
  3. + New step › Send me a mobile notification (install the Power Automate app) or Teams Post message in a chat or channel.
  4. Click in the text box and pick Subject and From from the dynamic content list.
  5. Save, then Test › Manually and send a matching email.

Dynamic content

Values from earlier steps (Subject, From, Received time, attachments) appear in the dynamic content panel. You’ll use it in every flow.

💡 Use the trigger’s own filters (From, Subject Filter) rather than a Condition step where possible; the flow then doesn’t run at all for other emails, saving your run quota.

Manage it

My flows › the flow › Turn off to pause it; Run history shows every run with inputs and outputs for each step.

Where people go wrong

Problem Cause
Flow doesn’t trigger Wrong folder or filter; check the trigger’s Folder setting
Notification storm Filter too broad

Practice

Build the alert flow from the steps file and test it.
