Android phones hide a lot of useful features behind long-presses and settings pages. These work on most phones running recent Android versions; exact menu names differ slightly between Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and others — use the search box in Settings if you cannot find them.

1. Share Wi-Fi with a QR code
Settings → Wi-Fi → tap your network → Share. A QR code appears; guests scan it with their camera and join without typing the password.
2. App pinning before lending your phone
Turn on App pinning (Settings → Security). Open Recents, tap the app icon → Pin. The person can only use that app until you unpin it.
3. Live Caption
Captions for any video or voice message playing on the phone — even offline. Find it under the volume controls or Settings → Accessibility → Live Caption.
4. Quick Share
Send photos and files to nearby Android phones, tablets and Windows PCs without mobile data. Tap Share → Quick Share.
5. Clipboard history in the keyboard
Gboard and Samsung Keyboard keep recent copies. Tap the clipboard icon in the keyboard toolbar and pin snippets you paste often.
6. Faster animations
Settings → About phone → tap Build number seven times to enable Developer options. Then set Window, Transition and Animator scale to 0.5x. The phone feels quicker.
7. Screen translation with Google Lens
Open the camera or Google Lens and point it at a sign, menu or document to translate it on screen — handy while travelling.
8. Find My Device
Make sure it is on (Settings → Google → Find My Device). From any browser you can ring, locate, lock or erase a lost phone.
