NPER returns the number of periods needed to repay a loan or reach a savings goal.

Syntax

=NPER(rate, pmt, pv, [fv], [type])
Argument What it means
pmt Payment per period (negative).

Examples

Example 1

=NPER(9%/12, -50000, 4000000)/12

Years to repay ₹40 lakh at ₹50,000 a month.

Example 2

=NPER(12%/12, -15000, 0, 5000000, 1)/12

Years of ₹15,000 SIPs to reach ₹50 lakh at 12%.
