Theme colours and fonts
Design > Variants > Colors > Customize Colors: set Accent 1-6 to your brand colours (hex codes from your logo guide). Charts, SmartArt and tables use these automatically. Fonts > Customize Fonts: heading and body font.
Fewer layouts, fewer problems
In Slide Master view, delete layouts nobody should use. People can’t misuse what isn’t there.
Save and share
- File > Save As > PowerPoint Template (*.potx).
- Put it in a shared folder; on each PC set File > Options > Save > Default personal templates location to that folder.
- File > New > Personal shows it. Microsoft 365 admins can also publish organisation templates.
π‘ Choose fonts every PC has (Calibri, Aptos, Segoe UI, Arial), or embed fonts (File > Options > Save > Embed fonts). A missing brand font silently becomes something else on the client’s laptop.
Common mistakes
- Colouring shapes with “More colours” instead of theme colours: they won’t change when the brand does.
- Editing the template when you meant a deck: double-clicking a .potx creates a new deck; right-click > Open edits the template.
Practice
Download the practice deck: the first slide lists the tasks.
