Microsoft Phone Link connects an Android phone to a Windows PC, so you can handle texts, calls and photos without picking up the phone.
In this article
Set it up
- On the PC, open Phone Link from the Start menu (it is built into Windows 11).
- Choose Android; a QR code appears.
- On the phone, install or open Link to Windows (preinstalled on many Samsung phones) and scan the code.
- Approve the permissions you are comfortable with: notifications, messages, photos, calls.
What you can do
- Messages: read and reply to SMS — handy for copying OTPs on a PC (and a reason to lock your PC when you step away).
- Notifications: see and dismiss phone notifications on the desktop.
- Calls: make and take calls through the PC’s speakers and microphone (needs Bluetooth).
- Photos: recent photos appear on the PC — drag them into Word, PowerPoint or email.
- Copy and paste between phone and PC on supported phones.
Privacy tips
- Turn off message and notification sync on shared or office PCs.
- Press Win+L whenever you leave the desk — your SMS and OTPs are visible in Phone Link.
- Remove the PC from Link to Windows when you change computers.
