In SAP S/4HANA, most users start in the Fiori launchpad — a browser home page of tiles — instead of the classic SAP GUI menu. Here is how to work with it efficiently.
In this article
Spaces, pages and tiles
- A space is a tab at the top, usually per role (“Accounts Payable”, “My Home”).
- Each space has pages with sections of tiles.
- A tile opens an app. Some tiles show a live number — open items, overdue invoices — so you can see your workload at a glance.
Find anything with search
The search icon at the top searches apps and business objects: type a supplier name, a purchase order number or “post invoice” and pick the result. It is often faster than browsing tiles.
Personalise your home
- Use “Edit Home Page” (or “Personalize”) to hide tiles you never use and pin the ones you do.
- Many list apps let you save a variant — your filters and columns — exactly like ALV layouts in SAP GUI.
- Use the share button in an app to save it as a tile with your filters already applied.
Exporting to Excel
Most list apps have an export button that downloads the current view to Excel, including your filters and column choices. For large exports, check the row limit and narrow your filters first.
When SAP GUI is still faster
Many organisations still allow classic transaction codes, sometimes inside the launchpad as “SAP GUI for HTML” apps. If you know the T-code (for example FBL1N for vendor line items), typing it in search often opens it directly. See our list of SAP transaction codes.
