NUMBERVALUE converts text to a number using separators you specify — essential for European-style “1.234,56” exports.

Syntax

=NUMBERVALUE(text, [decimal_separator], [group_separator])
Argument What it means
decimal_separator Character used for decimals in the text.
group_separator Thousands separator in the text.

Examples

Example 1

=NUMBERVALUE("1.234,56", ",", ".")

1234.56

Example 2

=NUMBERVALUE(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"₹",""))

Strip the rupee sign, then convert.
